What types of courses/programs are offered at CLC?
The CLC offers a variety of tech and business classes, workshops, certificates and meetups for an audience ranging from curious learners to tech professionals. Topics include fast growing careers including AI, digital marketing, data science, cybersecurity, sales, leadership and more.
Who teaches the classes at the Charleston Learning Center?
Instruction at the CLC is provided by qualified tech and business professionals from the Charleston area who are passionate about their craft and eager to share their knowledge with the community. Our instructors meet specific guidelines designed to optimize learning.
Does the CLC offer financial assistance or scholarships?
Scholarships are available for under-represented members of the community. Contact us to learn more about our scholarship opportunities.
Is there a refund policy if I am unable to attend a class I registered for?
Once you have registered for a class, there are no refunds.
Do I get a certificate upon completing a course?
Certain courses are structured to provide certificates for attendees who successfully complete the class.
Where do I park?
Parking is available in the Charleston Tech Center public parking garage located at 4 Conroy St. Charleston, SC 29403.
What do I need to bring to a class?
All requirements are outlined in the class description. In the event a computer is required and you do not have one, it will be provided for you.
What are Google Career Certificates?
Google Career Certificates are flexible, self-paced online training programs that prepare individuals for in-demand jobs in fields like AI Essentials, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, IT Support, Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, Project Management, and UX Design –-no prior experience or degree required.
Who is eligible to participate in the Google Career Certificates Program?
The program is open to any resident in the Charleston region (Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester County) looking to gain job-ready skills for entry-level roles in tech and business-related fields. No prior technical experience or college degree is needed.
How much do the Google Career Certificates cost?
Thanks to our partnership with Google, we offer full scholarships to qualifying participants. Apply for a scholarship HERE.
How long does it take to complete a certificate?
Each program is self-paced and typically takes about 3–6 months to complete with around 10 hours of study per week.
Do I get a job after completing Google Career Certification?
While we can't guarantee employment, participants will gain access to job readiness support and our network of Charleston-based employers and national companies who recognize Google Career Certificates.
What kind of support is available during the Google Career Certifcation?
Participants can attend optional study groups, resume and interview prep workshops, and career coaching sessions hosted by the Charleston Learning Center. You'll also have access to peer and mentor support.
Can I take multiple certification paths
Yes. Once you have completed one certification path, you will be eligible to start another. We recommend learners focus on one certification prior to starting a second course.
